Oral Interp
Class Contract
Following are the requirements for the Oral Interp class at Brandon Valley High School. All students enrolled in the class will be expected to sign this contract to have on file in the interp room.
First requirement All students who take this class will be expected to prepare two pieces for competition over the course of the semester. This includes reading/researching the piece, cutting it to time, editing it for adherence to event guidelines, writing an appropriate introduction, and adequately rehearsing the piece for performance. One of the pieces must meet the guidelines for National Forensic League competition.
Second requirement All students enrolled in Oral Interp are expected to attend at least four tournaments. The tentative tournament schedule is posted in the room as well as included with the Code of Conduct. Students failing to meet this requirement will fail the course.
Third requirement Each student will be expected to complete four in-class performances (not including the semester exam performance) during the course of the semester. Students who do not complete all four performances during the scheduled performance days will be unable to earn an A in the class. (Please note — completing all four performances does not guarantee an A; completing fewer than four guarantees a grade of lower than an A.) There are four weeks during the semester set aside for performances. Each student will be expected to perform one piece during each of these four performance weeks.
Fourth requirement The semester exam for this course will consist of a performance portion and a written portion. The performance portion must be memorized. Students failing to memorize the performance will not receive a passing grade on that portion of the test.
This contract must be signed by each student and a parent signifying their understanding of the requirements of the class. Please turn in to Ms. Koehn by August 31.
